What is the ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP APPEAL?
The Annual Scholarship Appeal is South Plains College's highest priority for annual giving. It is a means by which SPC alumni, parents and friends can most effectively contribute their financial support to make an impact in the lives of current and future SPC students. Your impact scholarship contributions are used exclusively to support today's students.
What do the GIFTS SUPPORT?
Gifts to the Annual Appeal are used to provide scholarships for students. At least 50 percent of new students are the first in their families to attend college, and more than 45 percent are considered economically disadvantaged. More than half of all SPC students seek financial assistance each semester to attend college, and more than 75 percent work full-time or part-time while attending SPC. With a fall enrollment of more than 10,500 students, the number of students needing financial assistance continues to grow.
While the cost to attend SPC is very affordable -- averaging $1,350 for tuition and fees each semester -- many SPC students struggle to make ends meet. Impact scholarships for tuition and fees allow students to direct their limited financial resources to books, supplies, transportation and childcare costs associated with going to school. A $1,000 impact scholarship makes a significant difference in the success of these students.
How your GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Last year, alumni, parents and friends of the College contributed $750,000 in endowed and unendowed funds to the Annual Appeal. As a result of your continued generosity, the South Plains College Foundation will award more than $532,000 in scholarships to SPC students for the 2011-12 academic year.
Providing an IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP for an SPC Student
Your contribution to the Annual Scholarship Appeal will help provide impact scholarships to worthy SPC students at the following levels:
Scholarship Benefactor -- $1,000 and above
Scholarship Partner -- $500 - $999
Scholarship Supporter -- $50 - $499
All gifts are gratefully acknowledged and your gift to the Annual Appeal is a charitable contribution that is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.

The South Plains College's 2012 Annual Appeal runs from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012. Your gift, no matter the amount, will make a difference in the future success of South Plains College students and ensure a high level of instructional quality at the college.
